I am sharing on 4 WAYS TO KNOW IF SOMETHING IS YOUR CALLING OR PURPOSE.
Many times, most of us struggle to identify what exactly our calling or purpose is, especially for those of us who seem to be good at so many things, have so many ideas and get excited at doing new things.
This year, we need to put in the effort to identify that one thing that we can focus on and massively grow its nature, impact and influence. Building a legacy demands focus, consistency and dedication and being distracted with too many things prevent you from building something great that will keep giving even after you.
If we need to focus, then we need to determine what our calling and purpose is and thrive in it. That is what guarantees fulfilment in life. Going through life and never really finding out why you are on earth and fulfilling your calling can be a huge tragedy and source of regret.
So let’s look at these 4 Ways we can gain clarity on our calling or purpose.
1. YOU NEVER STOP THINKING ABOUT IT: Your calling or purpose is one of those things that keep coming to you regularly. It’s something that crosses your mind almost on a consistent basis.
Even when you get distracted with many things, you find yourself thinking about this particular thing and considering different ways of making it happen.
Sometimes your fear gets in the way just thinking about what exactly it is, how to execute it and the associated risks mostly compared to your current state, engagement or prospects. But you never stop thinking about and sometimes find yourself consistently talking about it.
2. YOU NOTICE IT WHEN OTHERS ARE FUNCTIONING IN IT: One of the most constant thing that happens that shows you something is your calling or purpose is when you notice it when someone is functioning in it.
When you see a pastor preaching, a public speaker making a presentation, a professional functioning in their role, a TV or Radio Presenter, An entrepreneur going about their business and you find yourself saying; That’s what I want to do or I can do that; I can even do it way better; that is an indication of your calling or purpose.
When you find yourself reading about people functioning in your calling or purpose, when you get excited when you encounter them, when you constantly fantasize being like them, when you call them your role models and mentors; it is most likely because they have taken the lead in your calling or purpose.
3. YOU FEEL UNFULFILLED WHEN YOU KEEP PUTTING IT ON HOLD: You may get distracted with the hustle of life. Obligations and responsibilities will get you doing things away from your purpose or functioning in roles not best fit for you but no matter how deep you get into everything else, you keep feeling unfulfilled in life and constantly feeling that there is something else you should be doing.
4. YOU DO IT EASILY AND PASSIONATELY: as compared to most people, when you get to function in your calling or purpose it is effortless. You do not struggle to understand what needs to be done or how to do it.
Given the opportunity, you are able to flawlessly execute in your purpose and passionate about constantly improving to sharpen your skills and deliver above expectations always.
When others need days, weeks or even months to prepare, you can do it in a few hours and deliver on it like you’ve been at it for a long time.
When you find yourself functioning in your calling or purpose, what you earn is the last thing on your mind. What you get paid is not what motivates you but what you get done and the challenge you are given to outdo yourself is what brings you excitement and fulfilment.
