10 WAYS TO KNOW YOUR RELATIONSHIP WILL END IN TEARS.
January 27, 20234 REASONS WHY YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT GIVE UP.
January 30, 2023Welcome to Sunday the 29th of January and the 29th Day of 2023. Today we are looking at the 4 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW GOD FOR YOURSELF.
Imagine building a relationship with someone you do not meet and only engage with through an intermediary. You spend time with the person when the intermediary does or instructs you to. All you know about this person is what the intermediary has shared with you and you barely spend time finding out more about this person for yourself. How will this relationship be like?
Knowing God for yourself should be the quest of every Christian; spending time to discover who God is, what He says, His ways, His Desires, His Commands, His Divine Will, His Gifts and experiencing Him in ways only known to you.
Let’s now take a look at the 4 Reasons why knowing God for yourself is important;
1. SO YOU ARE NOT DECEIVED – Ephesians 4:14 (NLT) says; Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.
For several reasons including pastors trying to enrich themselves, there are so many doctrines out there that seek to deceive people and when we do not focus on getting to know God and His Word for ourselves, we will easily be deceived.
2. SO YOU ARE NOT ENSLAVED – The Bible admonishes us to put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). Many people, have unfortunately been enslaved by the tactics of religious leaders, spiritual fathers and pastors as a result of their lack of personal effort to get to know God and to put on the armour of God.
As a result, they’ve been sold to the church and follow blindly without questioning or interrogating anything. They have no opinion of their own and will vehemently oppose any attempt at letting them see the errors in the ways of the pastor or the church. Some churches are becoming cults with members enslaved.
3. SO YOU NO NOT HAVE MISPLACED PRIORITIES: From the parable of the talents; we observe that the ‘servant’ who got one talent and did not put it to work eventually lost it. Everyone has talents and responsibilities on earth; that for which you will be giving account to God and when you do not prioritize getting to know God for yourself, you are likely to prioritize everything else and miss the very reason for your existence on earth.
4. SO YOU DO NOT MISS HEAVEN: Matthew 7:21 says; Not every one that said to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the Will of my Father which is in heaven. What is the Will of God for your life? Have you discovered it yet, are you living it?
Ephesians 5:15-17 says; Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Make it a point to examine the Scriptures to see if what is being said is true as the Berean Jews were doing to Paul (Acts 17:11-12). Get to know God for yourself; for it is the most liberating and exhilarating experience you can ever have.
