Business growth consultant and productivity coach Ekow Mensah has been honored with a citation by the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) for his eight years of dedicated service as a judge and Ideation Team member for the KIC AgriTech Challenge Pro. This recognition highlights his significant contributions to fostering youth-led agribusiness innovation in Ghana.
Since 2017, Mr. Mensah has been instrumental in evaluating and mentoring over 300 agritech startups, ensuring that KIC’s seed funding of over $1.435 million has been effectively allocated to ventures with the potential to transform Ghana’s agricultural sector. His role has been pivotal in guiding these startups through the early stages of development, focusing on market viability, scalability and team resilience.
The KIC AgriTech Challenge Pro, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, is a five-month accelerator program designed to support young entrepreneurs in launching and scaling innovative solutions to key problems in agriculture. Participants receive seed funding, mentorship, and access to KIC’s extensive network of partners as they progress into the KIC Business Incubation Programme.
In the recently concluded 2025 edition, held at the KNUST Business School, 22 teams were selected from 42 finalists representing 16 universities across Ghana. These teams received seed funding ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to grow their agritech businesses—a powerful step toward transforming agriculture through youth-led solutions.
Ekow Mensah’s commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurs aligns with KIC’s mission to increase awareness of agricultural opportunities and the associated entrepreneurial benefits for the youth. Through programs like the AgriTech Challenge Pro, KIC aims to drive technology and innovation as catalysts for enhancing productivity, improving yields, and creating more jobs within Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Reflecting on his eight-year journey with KIC, Mensah expressed pride in contributing to the development of Ghana’s agribusiness landscape. “It’s been an honor to serve as one of the judges for the KIC AgriTech Challenge Pro. Witnessing the innovation and passion of these young entrepreneurs is truly inspiring,” he shared.
As Ghana continues to prioritize agriculture as a cornerstone of its economy, the efforts of individuals like Ekow Mensah and organizations like the Kosmos Innovation Center play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future through youth-driven innovation.
