Welcome to Reality Check Monday – How do you avoid being taken for granted?

Go where you are needed and appreciated. Life is too short to waste your time on people who take you for granted.

The world is full of people with different temperaments, personalities, motives and agendas. Whiles some people go all out for others; giving them their time, attention, money and support; others are also out to take and never give anything back. Some out of the kindness of their hearts, their upbringing or their commitment to nurturing a friendship or relationship, will give everything just to make others happy but sadly, what they give is mostly not what they get in return.

Some are always available whenever they are needed but unfortunately no one seems to have their time when they need others. They will call and check on friends and family but no one remembers to do same for them. They will be present to help out with the parties, weddings, engagements, outdooring and so on but they have to practically beg others to show them the same courtesies.

Life is way too short to always be at the giving end without ever receiving. There are billions of people in this world and amongst them will be people who will need and appreciated you for who you are and the value you bring to the table. There are people who will not take you for granted. There are people who will not make you work that hard for their love, attention and respect. There are people who will miss you and check on you too. There are people who will notice when you are silent, absent or upset. There are people who will give you as much as you give them.

Find those people and avoid those that take you for granted. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be loved. You deserve to be missed. You deserve to be appreciated. You deserve to be respected. So look out for yourself whiles you look out for others.
