Succesful Contestants of the Emerging Speakers Challenge were oriented and made their first presentation to the Jury of the challenge last Saturday, September 16, 2017
At Empower, on the 8th floor of the Octagon, they were oriented on the Challenge as well as the upcoming Emerging Speakers Conference. The challenge which is a six (6) weeks long program; will see the successful candidates undergo rigorous public speaking training and activities in a bid to groom and select the best speaker at the end of the program.The winner will be selected at the Emerging Speakers Conference which will take place take place on October 14, 2017, at the AITI-KACE.
Earlier in the week, the contestants were tasked on the topic, “ME PERSONIFIED”. They were to give a 3- 4 minutes speech about themselves. This speech was to be made up of a detailed background of them which could include childhood memories, personal goals, aspirations, past achievements etc. The speech should have had a defined beginning, body and conclusion with the objective of the Jury getting to know them.
Their presentations were assessed and judged on Speech clarity, Grammar, Audibility, Audience Connection, and Speaker’s Energy.
Contestants individually presented on themselves and were judged and mentored by the Jury. Other contestants were given the opportunity to bring out their opinions and suggestions on the presentation of their peers. They shared exciting childhood memories, life experiences, challenges and achievements in diverse ways.
There were photo and video shoots for every contestant. Pictures and videos of contestants would be used to help build and enhance their personal brands in subsequent weeks.
They had an educative and interesting time meeting and being mentored by the Jury. They are excited to meet the Jury next Saturday, September 23rd, 2017.
